ElevenLabs was founded in 2022 by Mati Staniszewski and Piotr Dabkowski. Reuters later identified the company as London-based and founded in 2022.

ElevenLabs announced its AI speech platform beta and a $2 million pre-seed round. The company said the beta launched in January 2023 and was intended to let creators narrate long-form content with lifelike AI voices.

ElevenLabs announced a $19 million Series A round. The company also said it had unveiled its beta platform in January 2023 after developing audio AI models throughout 2022.

ElevenLabs came out of beta and released Eleven Multilingual v2. The company described it as a foundational AI speech model for nearly 30 languages.

ElevenLabs raised $80 million in Series B funding, which Reuters reported made the company a unicorn. Reuters identified the round as led by Andreessen Horowitz.

ElevenLabs announced that the team behind Omnivore, a popular iOS reader app, had joined the company. Public reporting characterized the move as ElevenLabs hiring or acquiring the Omnivore team to support its reader product work.

ElevenLabs raised $180 million in a Series C round at a $3.3 billion valuation. Reuters reported the company also broadened its product lineup with speech generation, voice design, sound effects, and AI-driven dubbing tools.

ElevenLabs said it raised $500 million in a Series D round at an $11 billion valuation. Reuters reported the company remained founded by Piotr Dabkowski and CEO Mati Staniszewski.
